Title: T1 Consider Donation of Surplus Buses

Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board authorize the Superintendent to donate two (2) 65-passenger school buses to Leadership Academy West, Inc., Charter School.

Description:

• Florida Statute 274.06 allows disposal of surplus property in a manner consistent with the best interest of the District.
• Under Florida's new Charter Schools law, all surplus property shall be provided for use by a charter school on the same basis as it is made available to other public schools in the District.
• The Leadership Academy West, Inc., Charter School is transporting Palm beach County District students to and from school.
• Prior to the execution of the donation, the Leadership Academy West, Inc., Charter School will be required to sign a vehicle donation agreement.
• Appropriate liens will be filed with the State of Florida.
• Property records of the transferred vehicles will be retired to the inactive file.

Financial Impact:

Donation of two used school buses that would sell for about $8,500. each.
