Title: PM1 Educational Specification for Palm Beach Gardens Elementary

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve the Educational Specification for the modernization to Palm Beach Gardens Elementary School, and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to execute all related contract documents.

Description:

1. The modernization to Palm Beach Gardens Elementary is scheduled to commence 2006 and be completed by 2008 according to the Board-adopted FY 2005 - FY 2009 Five-Year Plan.

2. The Educational Specification for modernization to Palm Beach Gardens Elementary is consistent with the CSR facility lists and CSR Generic Educational Specifications approved by the Board on November 8, 2004.

3. The "CSR FISH Capacity" of this school design would be 738 with a core of 964 and the "Program Capacity" of this school design would be 700 students, as authorized by the Charter School District Waiver granted by the Florida Board of Education on January 21, 2003.

4. The Castaldi analysis identifies four (4) buildings (Bldgs 11, 12, 13 & 14) that would remain on site.  The existing facilities will be analyzed by the project architect to determine appropriate usage of the site and buildings for necessary renovations and remodeling to meet SREF size standards, ADA requirements and other code issues.

5. The Educational Specification reflects the use of grade level grouping to enable implementation of the "school-within-a-school" concept.

6. The Educational Specification was reviewed and approved by the principal.

Financial Impact:

Financial impact will be determined when construction contract is negotiated.
