Title: RE5 Agreement between the City of Greenacres

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve the Interlocal Agreement between the City of Greenacres and the School Board of Palm Beach County for the mutual use of recreational facilities; and authorizing the Chairman and Superintendent to sign all necessary documents.

Description:

§         Construction for the modernization of the John I. Leonard High School, located in the City of Greenacres, is currently underway and will continue for two (2) years.  As the new improvements are being constructed on the school’s recreation areas and athletic fields, the students have no available recreational facilities.

 

§         The Agreement grants the School Board use of the City’s recreational facilities such as parks, courts and athletic fields.  The City’s facilities will be used by John I. Leonard students for team practices and recreational activities.  Additionally, certain City baseball and softball fields that are regulation standard will be available for use for FHSAA games and events.

 

§         The City, on behalf of the City and its recognized sports provider groups, is granted the right to use the available recreational facilities at John I. Leonard High School.  Through at least the next two years of construction, those available facilities will for practical purposes be limited to exterior meeting areas and the gymnasium.

 

§         The term of the Agreement is two (2) years and is automatically renewed for up to two (2) additional consecutive one (1) year terms. The Agreement can be terminated by either party with thirty (30) days written notice.
