NOTICE OF PROPOSED RULE DEVELOPMENT & PUBLIC HEARING

RULE TITLE: Independent Sales Surtax Oversight Committee.

RULE NUMBER: Policy 1.095.

SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: Charter of the independent committee to oversee the District's use of the proceeds of the half-cent sales surtax approved by voters in November, 2004.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: To establish and outline the structure, function, and protocols of the Independent Sales Surtax Oversight Committee as an independent advisory committee to the School Board, with the primary purpose of overseeing and verifying the implementation of the plan for using the half-cent sales surtax to be imposed in Palm Beach County from January, 2005 through December, 2010, to be used for specified School District capital outlay projects, land acquisition, and upgrades to the newest technology, and which may also be used for servicing bond indebtedness to finance the authorized capital outlay projects.

PUBLIC HEARING: It is anticipated that this rule development will be considered at the School Board's Special Meeting on Policies on May 11, 2005, anticipated to begin at 2:15 p.m., in the Board Chambers at 3300 Forest Hill Blvd., West Palm Beach, Fla. The hearing is open to the public. AGENDA: A copy of the agenda will be available by May 4 on the District’s Web site. Pursuant to the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, any person requiring special accommodations to participate in these meetings is asked to advise the agency at least 48 hours before the workshop by contacting the Board Clerk at 434-8139. This meeting is open to the public.
