RULE TITLE: Resignation and Termination of Employment.

RULE NUMBER: Policy 3.20.

SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: The process for resignation or termination of employment.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: This revision will update the process for resignation or termination, including the requirement to file form PBSD 1176 (“Employee Resignation/Termination”) with the principal or department head. Form PBSD 1176 is incorporated by reference. A new subsection concerns terminal retirement benefit for compensation for unused sick leave for employees who resign, terminate, or retire with a minimum of six years of service employment. Other new sections govern unused annual leave, and unused sick leave for employees who are not covered by a collective bargaining agreement. If the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement conflict with this Policy, the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement will prevail.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE: Development of the proposed rule is anticipated to be considered at the School Board's Special Meeting on Policies on December 5, 2007, anticipated to begin at 3:30 p.m. (an approximate time, as the actual start time may vary earlier or later) in the Board Chambers at 3300 Forest Hill Blvd., West Palm Beach, Fla. AGENDA: An agenda will be available by November 28, 2007 on the District's Web site.
