RULE NUMBER: Policy 6.03.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: To revise the cost of school meals for students and adults.

SUMMARY: Slightly increases meal prices due to increased costs and expected inflation. For the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 school years, breakfast would cost $1.00 for all levels of students; and lunch would cost $1.50 for elementary students, $1.75 for secondary students, and $3.00 for adults. For the 2007-2008 school year, lunch would cost $1.75 for elementary students; $2.00 for secondary students; and a price to be determined, through revision of this Policy, for adults. For other future years, the Superintendent would annually evaluate whether to recommend price increases through revision of the Policy. These increases would not affect students eligible for free or reduced-price meals. At all levels, the cost for reduced-price meals will continue to be set annually according to USDA guidelines (which were $0.30 for breakfast and $0.40 for lunch at the time of this notice), and the USDA may evaluate for possible price adjustments on an annual basis.
