NOTICE OF PROPOSED RULE ADOPTION
AND PUBLIC HEARING

RULE TITLE: Promotion, Placement, and Graduation - Student Progression Plan.

RULE NUMBER: Policy 8.01.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: To incorporate into the Policy the 2006-2007 edition of the District’s Student Progression Plans by reference, to supersede the 2005-2006 edition.

SUMMARY: This revision will incorporate the newest edition of the Student Progression Plans, which reflect recent legislative amendments and maximize consistency with state law and DOE practices regarding matters such as student performance standards, promotional and graduation requirements for grades K-12, adult general education, special education, and dual enrollment. The revision also provides an additional reference to the online location of the Plans.

Any person who wishes to provide information regarding a statement of estimated regulatory costs, or to provide a proposal for a lower cost regulatory alternative, must do so in writing within 21 days of the publication of this Notice.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE: Adoption of the proposed rule is anticipated to be considered at the School Board's Special Meeting on Policies on November 8, 2006, anticipated to begin at 5:00 p.m. in the Board Chambers at 3300 Forest Hill Blvd., West Palm Beach, Fla. AGENDA: A copy of the agenda will be available on November 1 on the District's Web site. Pursuant to the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, any person requiring special accommodations to participate in this hearing is asked to advise the agency at least 48 hours in advance by contacting the Board clerk at 434-8139. This hearing is open to the public.
