NOTICE OF RULE DEVELOPMENT
AND PUBLIC HEARING

RULE TITLE: Promotion, Placement, and Graduation - Student Progression Plan.

RULE NUMBER: Policy 8.01.

SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: Incorporation of the 2007-2008 edition of the District’s Student Progression Plans by reference, to supersede the 2006-2007 edition.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: This revision will incorporate the newest edition of the Student Progression Plans, which reflect recent legislative amendments and State Board of Education Rules and maximize consistency with state law and DOE practices regarding matters such as student performance standards, promotion and graduation requirements for grades K-12, adult general education, special education, and dual enrollment. This regular development will result in codifying substantially the revisions that were adopted via emergency rulemaking (as Policy 8.01-ER) on August 22, 2007.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE: Development of the proposed rule is anticipated to be considered at the School Board’s Special Meeting on Policies on September 12, 2007, anticipated to begin at 4:00 p.m. (an approximate time, as the actual start time may vary earlier or later) in the Board Chambers at 3300 Forest Hill Blvd., West Palm Beach, Fla. AGENDA: An agenda will be available by September 5, 2007 on the District’s Web site. Pursuant to the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, any person requiring special accommodations to participate in this hearing is asked to advise the agency at least 48 hours in advance by contacting the Board clerk at 434-8139. A person may submit written comments (12 copies) about the proposed action to the clerk no later than the time of the public hearing. This hearing is open to the public.
