NOTICE OF RULE DEVELOPMENT
AND PUBLIC HEARING

RULE TITLE: Audit Committee.

RULE NUMBER: Policy 1.091.

SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: The Audit Committee shall serve on behalf of the School Board as its oversight of the School Board’s Inspector General, internal audit and investigation functions. The Audit Committee shall review and make recommendations to the School Board on matters affecting the adequacy of internal controls, accounting procedures, systems and controls, and financial reporting in accordance with laws and regulations.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: The establishment of an Audit Committee (Committee), created consistent with Board Policy 1.09 (Advisory Committees to the Board) for purposes of providing advice to the School Board and providing guidance and assistance to the Inspector General.

SPECIFIC AUTHORITY: Fla. Stat. §§ 1001.41 (1) & (2); 1001.42 (25).

LAWS IMPLEMENTED: Fla. Stat. §§ 1001.32 (2); 1001.42 (12),(13), & (15); 1001.43 (2), (6), & (10); 286.011.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE: Development of the proposed rule is anticipated to be considered at the School Board's Special Meeting on Policies on November 2, 2011, anticipated to begin at 5:00 p.m. (an approximate time, as the actual start time may vary earlier or later) in the Board Chambers at 3300 Forest Hill Blvd., West Palm Beach, Fla. AGENDA: An agenda will be available by October 26, 2011 on the District's Web site. Pursuant to the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, any person requiring special accommodations to participate in this hearing is asked to advise the agency at least 48 hours in advance by contacting the Board clerk at 434-8139. A person may submit written comments (12 copies) about the proposed action to the clerk no later than the time of the public hearing. This hearing is open to the public.
