NOTICE OF RULE DEVELOPMENT
AND PUBLIC HEARING

RULE TITLE: Finance Committee.

RULE NUMBER: Policy 1.094.

SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: Proposed revision include clarification of appointment procedures for committee members and clarification of staff roles, by: permitting the committee to provide input to the Board of potential names for membership; providing for each Board member to have an appointment to the committee; eliminating the ex-officio members, Board members and staff; providing for certain District employees, and others as requested by the committee, to attend the committee meetings; and for the Treasurer to serve as staff liaison and support to the committee; providing for membership to continue on the committee until removed by Board member; and modifying provisions governing the meeting, rules of procedures, etc., of the committee.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: This Policy generally sets forth the purpose, structure, composition and responsibilities of the Finance Committee, as an advisory committee to the Board.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE: Development of the proposed rule is anticipated to be considered at the School Board's Special Meeting on Policies on March 30, 2011, anticipated to begin at 7:30 p.m. (an approximate time, as the actual start time may vary earlier or later) in the Board Chambers at 3300 Forest Hill Blvd., West Palm Beach, Fla. AGENDA: An agenda will be available by March 23, 2011 on the District's Web site. Pursuant to the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, any person requiring special accommodations to participate in this hearing is asked to advise the agency at least 48 hours in advance by contacting the Board clerk at 434-8139. A person may submit written comments (12 copies) about the proposed action to the clerk no later than the time of the public hearing. This hearing is open to the public.
