NOTICE OF RULE DEVELOPMENT
AND PUBLIC HEARING

RULE TITLE: School Food Service Management.

RULE NUMBER: Policy 6.185.

SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: It incorporates other policies addressing school food service components as the cost of school meals, food prepared outside of the school food service program and purchases for the food service program.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: The policy codifies the District’s practice of requiring all schools to participate in the National School Lunch, School Breakfast, Summer Food Service, After-School Snack, and After-School Meals Programs and to receive USDA commodities.

SPECIFIC AUTHORITY: Fla. Stat. § 1001.42(16), 595.

LAWS IMPLEMENTED: Fla. Stat. §§ 595; 42 USC § Chapter 13 and 13A et seq. (Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act); (Child Nutrition Act of 1966); Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010 (Public Law 11-296); 7CFR Parts 210, 220, 225-227, 235, 240, 245, 247, 250 and 252.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE: Development of the proposed rule is anticipated to be considered at the School Board's Special Meeting on Policies on February 25, 2015, anticipated to begin at 2:00 p.m. (an approximate time, as the actual start time may vary earlier or later) in the Board Chambers at 3300 Forest Hill Blvd., West Palm Beach, Fla. AGENDA: An agenda will be available by February 18, 2015 on the District's Web site. Pursuant to the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, any person requiring special accommodations to participate in this hearing is asked to advise the agency at least 48 hours in advance by contacting the Board clerk at 434-8139. A person may submit written comments (12 copies) about the proposed action to the clerk no later than the time of the public hearing. This hearing is open to the public.
