NOTICE OF RULE DEVELOPMENT
AND PUBLIC HEARING

RULE TITLE: School Food Service Management.

RULE NUMBER: Policy 6.185.

SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: This policy establishes guidelines for the management of all School Food Services facilities and staff throughout the District.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: Revisions to this policy will include, but will not be limited to, the authorization of the District to participate in certain programs and receive USDA commodities; requires universal free breakfast to be provided in schools where 80% or more of the students are eligibile for free or reduced priced meals (otherwise, free breakfast is at the discretion of the SFS Director); authorizes prepay debit system for students and employees; requires meal prices to be Board approved; requires programs to be in compliance with applicable sanitation and health regulations; outlines responsibilities of SFS central staff, school principal and staff, and SFS managers; and other items as addressed in the policy.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE: Development of the proposed rule is anticipated to be considered at the School Board's Special Meeting on Policies on July 24, 2013, anticipated to begin at 2:00 p.m. (an approximate time, as the actual start time may vary earlier or later) in the Board Chambers at 3300 Forest Hill Boulevard; West Palm Beach, Fla. AGENDA: An agenda will be available by July 17, 2013 on the District's Web site. Pursuant to the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, any person requiring special accommodations to participate in this hearing is asked to advise the agency at least 48 hours in advance by contacting the Board clerk at 434-8139. A person may submit written comments (12 copies) about the proposed action to the clerk no later than the time of the public hearing. This hearing is open to the public.
