NOTICE OF PROPOSED RULE ADOPTION

RULE TITLE: Parental/Family Involvement.

RULE NUMBER: Policy 1.015.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: To demonstrate the School Board's supportiveness and endorsement of parental involvement in education.

SUMMARY: This proposed new Policy will recognize that parental involvement is important to a student's education; encourages communication with parents; implements § 230.23(15)(b), Fla. Stat.; encourages family-friendly schools, flexible time, and accommodation of parent schedules, within the parameters of the School Code, State Board of Education Rules, and security procedures; endorses the six standards set forth in the National Standards for Parent/Family Involvement Programs as adopted by the National PTA; encourages provision of parent resources; proposes the designation of an Office of Family Involvement and coordinator.

Any person who wishes to provide information regarding a statement of estimated regulatory costs, or to provide a proposal for a lower cost regulatory alternative, must do so in writing within 21 days of the publication of this Notice.
