NOTICE OF PROPOSED RULE DEVELOPMENT

RULE TITLE: Public Information.

RULE NUMBER: Policy 2.04.

SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: Coordination of public information and media relations through the Office of Public Affairs and dissemination of information about the District to the public, including the press.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: To update and clarify responsibilities and procedures for dissemination of information about the District to the public, including the press, noticing public meetings, responding to media inquiries, initiating media contact, handling serious incidents; clarifies school principals' statutory authority regarding campus visits; updates statutory references.

RULE DEVELOPMENT HEARING: This policy development is expected to be considered at the School Board's Special Meeting on Policies on August 19, 2002 (anticipated to be 2:30 p.m.) in the Board Chambers at 3300 Forest Hill Blvd., West Palm Beach, Fla. The meeting is open to the public.
