NOTICE OF PROPOSED RULE DEVELOPMENT

School Board of Palm Beach County

RULE TITLE: Direct Support Organizations.

RULE NUMBER: Policy 2.163.

SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: Foundations or other direct-support organizations that provide financial support to the District or a particular school and are organized as not-for-profit corporations.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: To set forth the lawful purpose, conditions, and guidelines governing direct support organizations; explains the fiscal responsibilities, open meetings and public records requirements, and ethics considerations; requires an audit by a CPA for each DSO with more than $100,000 in annual expenditures or expenses; requires each direct-support organization to have a charter from the school board, consistent with law and Board policies.
