NOTICE OF PROPOSED RULE DEVELOPMENT & PUBLIC HEARING

RULE TITLE: Political Activities On School Board Property .

RULE NUMBER: Policy 2.59.

SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: Political activities, such as distribution of political advertising materials, on school grounds.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: To revise the Policy to promote school safety and the educational purpose and integrity of the learning environment, such as by restricting appearances of candidates; eliminating access of candidates to school staff mailboxes; and limiting distribution of political material, while also clarifying that student government election materials of students are allowed in an appropriate time, place, and manner.

PUBLIC HEARING: It is anticipated that this rule development will be considered at the School Board's Special Meeting on Policies on March 1, 2004, anticipated to begin at 5:00 p.m., in the Board Chambers at 3300 Forest Hill Blvd., West Palm Beach, Fla. The meeting is open to the public.
