NOTICE OF PROPOSED RULE DEVELOPMENT

The School Board of Palm Beach County

RULE TITLE: Grievance Procedure for Employees.

RULE NUMBER: Policy 3.31.

SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: Procedures to be used by employees for reporting and resolving grievances, including alleged harassment or discrimination.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: This revision updates details of the four levels of review for resolution of grievances other than harassment and discrimination; sets forth a separate procedure for resolving grievances based on harassment or discrimination, for which up to sixty days are allowed for initial reporting of incidents; proposes methods of reporting and investigating allegations against direct reports of the Board; and explains that if a grievance is filed under the procedure of a collective bargaining agreement, the employee may not pursue the same grievance under this Policy.

RULE DEVELOPMENT HEARING: It is expected that development of this Policy will be considered at the School Board's Special Meeting on Policies on August 19, 2002 (anticipated to be 2:30 p.m.), in the Board Chambers at 3300 Forest Hill Blvd., West Palm Beach, Fla. The meeting is open to the public.
