NOTICE OF PROPOSED RULE ADOPTION
RULE TITLE: Releasing Children from School.
RULE NUMBER: Policy 5.11.
PURPOSE AND EFFECT: This revision clarifies and expands the detail of the procedures to ensure that the release of students during the school day is authorized by the parent/guardian and/or state law.
SUMMARY: This revision will specify procedures to be followed at school centers when a person other than the parent or legal guardian will pick up a student from school, or when a DCF or law enforcement officer will remove the student from school; may provide for limited exception for certain high school students with a valid driver's license and their own transportation and an occasional verified valid reason for leaving campus with parental approval; incorporates material from related administrative Directives.

Any person who wishes to provide information regarding a statement of estimated regulatory costs, or to provide a proposal for a lower cost regulatory alternative, must do so in writing within 21 days of the publication of this Notice.

RULE ADOPTION HEARING: Pursuant to School Board Policy 1.03(16), rules may be developed or adopted via the consent agenda of a special meeting. It is anticipated that adoption of this policy will be considered at the School Board's Special Meeting on Policies on February 17, 2003, anticipated to be at 2:00 p.m. in the Board Chambers at 3300 Forest Hill Blvd., West Palm Beach, Fla. The meeting is open to the public.
