RULE NUMBER: Policy 5.1812.

SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: Updating the coding system used by schools for classifying and handling infractions by elementary students.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: The Discipline Committee has recommended a few new incident codes and action codes, as well as some minor definition revisions and changes to the matrix, which should assist in more accurately handling discipline in the schools; corrects clerical errors in the current version and reflects revisions recommended when training materials were developed. An amendment may be proposed to allow possession of cellular phones. At the first readings on June 17 and July 8, the School Board also requested certain amendments, which have been incorporated.
