PROPOSED RULE DEVELOPMENT

RULE TITLE: Operational Procedures for Incidents and
Actions for Secondary Students.
RULE NUMBER: Policy 5.1813.
SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: Updating the coding
system used by schools for classifying and handling infractions by secondary
students.
PURPOSE
AND EFFECT: The Discipline Committee has recommended a few new incident codes
and action codes, as well as some minor definition revisions and changes to the
matrix, which should assist in more accurately handling discipline in the
schools; corrects clerical errors in the current version and reflects revisions
recommended when training materials were developed. The Policy will continue to prohibit use of cellular phones,
while allowing possession thereof.
Retains the statement that "the Matrix provides minimum mandatory
actions for each incident. More severe
consequences may be imposed at the discretion of the administrator."

is anticipated that this policy development will be considered at the School
Board's Special Meeting on Policies on December
2, 2002, at 2:00 p.m., in the Board Chambers at 3300 Forest Hill Blvd.,
West Palm Beach, Fla. The meeting is open to the public.
