NOTICE OF CHANGE

RULE AFFECTED: Policy 5.321.

TITLE: Administration of Student Medication/Treatment.

NOTICE is hereby given in accordance with subparagraph 120.54(3)(d)1., F.S., that changes were made to the proposed rule at the final reading.

BASIS FOR CHANGES: The record of the School Board's public hearing on Policies on July 8, 2002 at 2:30, p.m.

CHANGES: Under Section (7)(c), paragraph vii. was added to read: "c. Further, the medication/treatment will not be administered, and the custodial parent/guardian and the principal/designee must be notified, if: * * * vii. The student refuses to take the prescribed medication." In subsection (7)(g), language was inserted as follows: "Any deviation from Section (7) of this policy must be noted in the student's individual medication record and reported to the custodial parent/guardian immediately by telephone and to the principal/designee."

The original Adoption Notice was published in The Palm Beach Post on June 10, 2002, announcing the July 8th special meeting on Policies.

In accordance with s. 120.54(3)(d)1., F.S., the amended Policy shall take effect on August 5, 2002 (21 days after publication of this notice) and will be posted on the School Board's policies web site at www.SchoolBoardPolicies.com.
