RULE TITLE: Student Directory Information.

RULE NUMBER: Policy 5.51.

SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: Designation of certain categories of information as "student directory information" as allowed by law; procedures for notification of students and parents; and provisions for opting-out from release of directory information.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: The proposed Policy defines student directory student directory information in accordance with Fla. Stat. § 1002.22(2)(b) and provides for release of directory information in compliance with § 1002.22(3)(d) (flush-left language following subparagraph (3)13) and recent amendments to the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), 20 U.S.C. § 1232g, as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. This Policy will supplement the existing Policy 5.50, "Student Records." It also incorporates and supersedes Directive 5.05(12).

LAWS IMPLEMENTED: §§ 1001.43(6); 1002.22(2)(b), (3)(d), Fla. Stat.; 20 U.S.C. § 1232g; and Title IV, Part A, § 9528 of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
