This item was originally noticed in The Palm Beach Post (on July 1, 2002), for the July 8, 2002, special meeting on Policies, but time did not permit consideration thereof.

SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: Giving preference in competitive procurement to businesses certified as local vendors.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: To implement § 230.23005(2)(a), Fla. Stat., authorizing adoption of policies governing local preference criteria for vendors and prioritization of awards for bids. Sets forth a certification process for three categories of local vendors; specifies a preference percentage applicable to each of the three categories of local vendors; provides a priority sequence for tied bids or proposals; excludes construction procurement from the operation of this policy.
