·       SimplexGrinnell manufactures and distributed their parts exclusively.

·      Service is exclusively by SimplexGrinnell factory-trained technicians offering a one to two hour response time to the School District unless it is an emergency situation.  Only trained technicians can provide factory-authorized warranties for SimplexGrinnell products.

·       Programming of SimplexGrinnell fire alarm panels is proprietary using specific specialized software by their own factory-trained technicians.

·      The SimplexGrinnell office in Jupiter has 70 full-time employees including 23 factory-trained technicians available to meet the needs of the School District on per-call basis.

·      Seventy-five percent of the schools throughout the District are equipped with SimplexGrinnell fire alarm systems.

·       SimplexGrinnell offers the School District an hourly labor rate of $80 versus a commercial rate of $128 an hour and offers 15% discount off list for parts. 

·      The School District pricing and discount from SimplexGrinnell is effective for the two-year period from March 1, 2005 through February 28, 2007.

Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the District Budget is estimated at $750,000.    The source of funds is the Maintenance and Plant Operations Department budget.
