Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve the Educational Specification for the modification and new construction to Boca Raton High School, and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to execute all related contract documents.

Description:

Boca Raton Community High School Academy & Science

1. The modification and new construction to Boca Raton High School is scheduled to commence 2005 and be completed by 2007 according to the Board-adopted FY 2005 - FY 2009 Five-Year Plan.

2. The modification and new construction of Boca Raton High School will include Academy Programs and new Science Building.  Future Build-Out classrooms will include Class Size Reduction.

3. The Educational Specification for Boca Raton High School is consistent with the CSR facility lists and CSR generic educational specifications approved by the Board on November 8, 2004.

4. The "CSR FISH Capacity" of the school design would be 2057 for the Academy Program and Science Addition.  The future Class Size Reduction Classroom FISH capacity would be 2574.

5. The Educational Specification also reflects the instructional needs of the Amendment 9 - Class Size Reduction.  Future additional teaching spaces have been provided by adding general classrooms to the design.

6. The existing facilities will be analyzed by the project architect to determine appropriate usage of the site and buildings for necessary renovations and remodeling to meet SREF size standards, ADA requirements and other code issues.

7. The Educational Specification was reviewed and approved by the Principal.
