Title: PM5 Project Modifications, Retainage & Final for Lantana Elementary

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve Project Modifications in the credit amount of ($17,491.43), approve Reduction of Retainage from 1% to 0%, and approve Final Payment and ratify Final Acceptance for Lantana Elementary School, Modernization Project, and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to execute all related contract documents.

Description:

 

Lantana Elementary School – Modernization Project #0751-8296

  

This project modification contains the following items

 

Item #1

  • COPR #2 in the credit amount of ($30,478.43)
  • Description:  All scope within the project is complete.  Remaining funds are credited from the construction contract.
  • Cause: School District Requested.
  • Justification: Remaining contingency not used for construction.   

Item #2

  • CCD #7 in the amount of $12,987.00
  • Description: Provide all necessary labor, materials, bonds, and insurance to replace west entrance to Building #3 with new hollow metal doors, hollow metal frames, electronic hardware, block, stucco, paint, and caulking.
  • Cause: School District Requested.
  • Justification: The existing old aluminum glass-light doors did not meet current building codes. 

Item #3

  • Description: The Project Architect, BRPH Architects, has certified that Lantana Elementary School, under contract with C.R. Klewin, achieved Final Completion on December 20, 2005.

The General Contractor has requested, and the Architect and Staff have recommended, Final Payment and Final Acceptance.

 

  • Punch List items were Completed
  • Certification of Occupancy was Obtained
  • Closeout Documents were Received
  • Errors & Omissions did not Exceed 1%
  • Final M/WBE Participation Achieved: 12.21% - The initial MWBE participation was 19.3%.  After the District removes Direct Purchase Orders to save sales tax, the participation rate drops down to 12.31%

Financial Impact:

The financial impact to the Project's Budget is a credit of ($17,491.43).
