Title: PM3 Project Modifications for Watson B. Duncan

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board ratify Project Modifications in the amount of $12,593.00 for Watson B. Duncan Middle School, HVAC Replacement Project, and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to execute all related contract documents.

Description:

Watson B. Duncan Middle School – HVAC Replacement Project #1971-8222 

This project modification contains the following items:

Item #1

• CCD #4 in the amount of $1,946.00
• Description: Add one exterior door at storage space, Building #2
• Cause: Design Omission.
• Justification:  Installation of new HVAC equipment blocked use of existing storage space.  The new door allows use of the space as originally designed.

Item #2

• CCD #5 in the credit amount of ($3,000.00)
• Description: Substitute original specified roll up door 
• Cause: Architect Suggested.
• Justification:  The specified roll up door had a long delivery time.  A substitute roll up door was specified by JLRD.  This door provided a cost savings of $3,000.00.

Item #3

• CCD #6 in the amount of $5,128.00
• Description: Correct preexisting code violations found during the HVAC replacement project, Buildings #2 and #9.
• Cause: Unforeseen Condition
• Justification:  Code violations must be corrected while the classroom spaces are unoccupied and accessible. 

Item #4

• CCD #7 in the amount of $8,519.00
• Description: Raise existing walls of Building #2 to accommodate new ductwork.  
• Cause:  Unforeseen Condition
• Justification:  Existing walls were not built to the elevation indicated on the as built drawings.  The wall height was increased and the trusses were altered to provide the proper clearance and load bearing capacity required for the new ductwork.  

Financial Impact:

The financial impact to the Project's Budget is $12,593.00.
