Title: G8-Pew Public Education Fund Grant for Single School Culture for Academics Recommendation:
I recommend the approval of the submission of the Pew Public Education Fund Grant for $275,775 to continue and expand the Single School Culture for Academics initiative and authorize the Superintendent or designee to sign all related documents.
Description:
- This project will provide training, coaching, and modeling on various components of Single School Culture for Academics for schools that meet the criteria for AAA status.
- This grant will provide resources for 1.5 existing specialist positons.
- This grant will also provide stipends for training to enable schools to implement the Single School Culture for Academics processes.
- The goals of the project are as follows:
v Percentage of students scoring in Level 3 (proficiency) or higher will increase by 10 percentage points or higher on the FCAT tests;
v Project schools (elementary) will participate in weekly Learning Team Meetings or biweekly (secondary) meetings;
v Parent Advocacy Specialist will conduct 50+ workshops on Efficacy to parents and/or community agencies; and
v A community-wide Efficacy Campaign for Proficiency will be enacted in Palm Beach County.
Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the Special Revenue - Other Funds Budget is an increase of $275,775. There is no financial impact to the Operating Budget.
