Title: PM5 Project Modifications for Jerry Thomas Elementary

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve Project Modifications in the amount of $72,860.00 for Jerry Thomas Elementary School, Classroom Addition Project, and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to execute all related contract documents.

Description:

 

Jerry Thomas Elementary School Classroom Addition Project #1651-8375

 

This project modification contains the following items:

 

Item #1

  • Additional Architectural Services in the amount of $3,157.00
  • Description: Additional Architectural services for design and engineering for added scope.
  • Cause: Outside Agency.
  • Justification: The Town of Jupiter has requested a "right turn lane" be added to the new parent drop off/pick up driveway at Toney Pena Drive to alleviate traffic congestion. The turn lane will be constructed within the School District's property. The addition of the turn lane will eliminate the Town's original request for a traffic light ($180,000.00). With an estimated construction cost of $60,000.00 this will be an estimated savings of $115,000.00.

  • Additional Architectural Services in the amount of $13,563.00
  • Description: Additional Architectural services for design and engineering for added scope.
  • Cause: Outside Agency
  • Justification: South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) requires certification of the site once construction is complete. The Jerry Thomas site has had previous site modifications that were not certified by SFWMD. At the completion of the Modernization project the Architect Engineer will certify the complete site to bring it up to date with SFWMD.

  • Additional Architectural Services in the amount of $6,190.00
  • Description:  Additional Architectural services for design and engineering for added scope.
  • Cause: Outside Agency
  • Justification: The Town of Jupiter has requested a realignment of the bus loop driveway on Maplewood Drive to coincide with the Town's road widening project. This realignment will also include the regrading of the bus loop entrance and exit, fencing, and sidewalk revisions.

Item #4

  • Additional Architectural Services in the amount of $4,950.00
  • Description: Additional Architectural services for design and engineering for added scope.
  • Cause: School District Requested.
  • Justification: The School District requested to locate underground utilities and provide survey services to measure and map all existing utilities within the site.

Construction costs are estimated to be $45,000.00.

Financial Impact:

The financial impact to the Project's Budget is $72,860.00.

 

The source of funds is the project budget as approved by the Board at the time of the Construction Contract Award.
