Title: P2 Webliteracy for Educators

Recommendation:

I recommend approval of the Webliteracy for Educators and authorize the Superintendent and Board Chairman to sign all necessary documents.

Description:

P2  Approve the purchase of a site license for Webliteracy for Educators

 

·      Webliteracy for Educators” is an on-line professional development program developed by Twenty-First Century Learning to enable teachers to receive on-site training that provides strategies for utilizing content-area technology in the classroom.

 

·      This site license is a blanket license that will cover all the eligible Palm Beach County private schools that participate in the Title II professional development activities.   The number is based on the 911 teachers in 43 schools that were eligible in FY06, but will cover any additional teachers in schools that become eligible in FY07.

 

·      Twenty-First Century Learning will arrange, coordinate, and oversee the “Developing Critical Thinking Skills Through Instructional Technology” program services.  The company will work with administrators and teachers to design school implementation plans and evaluations in order to comply with NCLB audit documentation.

 

·       Specific services that are provided through this license are:

 

         ·    Two days of online training from 21st Century personnel for all private school staff.

        ·    Online videos (Dr. Alan November) discussing the needs and solutions for the data-driven research.

       ·    Eight two-hour online sessions with Dr. November to interact and to customize his theory based on local needs and questions, etc.   (Each school will be able to customize timeframe for viewing.)

 

·      The fee for providing this Site License to all eligible non-public schools in Palm Beach County is $77,500.

 

Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the FY07 Special Revenue – Other Funds Budget is estimated at $77,500.  The source of funds is Title II, Part A Budget.  There is no impact to the Capital Budget.
