P3   Approve the sale of Off-Adoption Surplus Textbooks to Academic Book Services, Inc. for a revenue payment of $27,994.
 
·      School Board Policy 7.12 provides for the disposal of instructional materials in accordance with State Board of Education Rule 6A-7.074, FAC.
 
·      Offers were solicited from 61 textbook companies on April 25, 2006.  Two offers were received.  Academic Book Services, Inc. submitted the highest offer of $27,994.
 
·      The offer is for the sale of off-adoption science textbooks for approximately 152 elementary, middle and high schools.  Successful vendor is required to purchase and pick-up the total quantity of surplus textbooks at each school.
 
·       Academic Book Services, Inc. as part of the offer will pick-up surplus textbooks from all schools on the designated list beginning in August 2006.
 
·       The Instructional Materials Department maintains a give-away program that is open to students and the general public.  Off-adoption surplus books are available for free on a first-come, first served basis.
 
·       The sale of surplus textbooks is revenue for the District.  All money received from the sale of surplus textbooks shall be appropriated for instructional materials.
 
·      The revenue payment for the textbooks is $27,994.
