Title: P8 Approve the cooperative agreement with the School Board of Seminole County

Recommendation:

I recommend approval of the cooperative agreement with the School Board of Seminole County Public Schools to continue participation in a consortium for the Medicaid administrative claiming process and authorize the Superintendent and Board Chairman to sign all necessary documents.   The effective dates of this cooperative agreement are July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007.

Description:

P8  Approve the cooperative agreement with the

       School Board of Seminole County

·       School Districts have been encouraged to assume the Medicaid billing responsibilities in lieu of contracting with outside consultants.

·       The School Board of Seminole County (SBSC) will act as the lead district in a consortium of school districts and will serve as data manager and processor for Palm Beach County School District (PBCSD).   

·      The School District of Palm Beach County, using the Seminole County School District data report, will determine and submit the Administrative Claim to Medicaid for reimbursement.

·       The cost to the District to implement this agreement will be approximately $2000.

·      Preparation of the Medicaid Administrative claim for reimbursement was previously provided by an outside vendor at a cost of $146,000.

·       These activities will result in a savings to the District of approximately $144,000 annually.    

Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the FY07 General Fund budget is $2,000.  These funds will be allocated from the Exceptional Student Education Department budget.
