Title: AC17-Cooperative Agreement with Growing Together, Inc.

Recommendation:

I recommend that the School Board approve the cooperative agreement with Growing Together, Incorporated to provide alternative educational services from July 1, 2006, through June 30, 2007.

 

Description:

This is the annual cooperative agreement between Growing Together, Inc. and the School District.
 
This program provides educational services for up to forty-five (45) substance abuse, disciplinary and truant male and female youths between the ages of 13 and 16 whose families have voluntarily enrolled them in the program.
 
The goal of the program is to develop the social skills and academic knowledge to ensure a successful transition to their home school after completion of the program.

Length of the program is six (6) months and is residential.

Students are evaluated through the SRI-Interactive reading, STAR math, and FCAT tests.

Growing Together, Inc. provides intensive counseling and behavior management in a therapeutic setting with student and family counseling and social services after the student has completed the program.

Growing Together, Inc. provides room and board and all other operational expenses incurred by the program.

The financial impact to the school district includes the instructional staff and materials needed to provide the educational program.

 

 

Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the General Fund Budget is approximately $154,830 for the instructional units. The source of the funds is FTE and Supplemental Academic Instruction (SAI) Categorical funding.
