Title: P3 Palm Beach County Convention Center

Recommendation:

I recommend approval of the agreement with Palm Beach County Convention Center for the Planting Seeds for Success 2005 Conference and authorize the Superintendent and Board Chairman to sign all necessary documents.

Description:

P3 - Approve the agreement with the Palm Beach County Convention Center for the Planting Seeds for Success 2005 Conference.

·      The Sixth Annual Planting Seeds for Success Conference is an event in which all Title I schools participate.  Parents, parent liaisons and principals are invited.

·      The Title I program is required to spend 1% of the Title I allocation on parental involvement activities to build the capacity of parents to become a partner in their child’s academic achievement.  The sessions are conducted in four languages.  They will offer activities and training on parenting skills, mathematics, reading and family games.

 ·     The Convention Center is the only facility able to provide enough space for eight breakout sessions, exhibit hall and a room for breakfast and luncheon as well as parking for 500 participants.  Set ups for screens, microphones, skirted tables, and water stations will be provided.

·      This Agreement will cover the costs for continental breakfast, lunch, parking, use of the grand ballroom for meals, meeting rooms, ballroom B & C for exhibit hall with skirted tables and chairs, audio visual equipment, and water stations for approximately 500 people.

·      The Convention Center was used for this event last year and worked very well.

·      The estimated expenditure for this Conference is $25,000.

Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the Special Revenue Budget is estimated at $25,000.  The source of funds is the Title I Budget.
