Title: CC11 Consultant Contract with RJG Law, LLC

Recommendation:
I recommend award of the consultant contract with the Law Firm of RJGLaw and authorize the Superintendent and Board Chairman to sign all needed documents.

Description:

• The consultant has provided the following services: Legal advisor providing regulatory advice and filings with respect to Educational Broadband Service (EBS) spectrum with the Federal Communications Commission and transactional advice to the School District with respect to the spectrum lease with Sprint.
• This amendment is to extend the maximum payment amount an additional $19,000 for the term of this contract.
• In July 2004, RJGLaw was retained to assist the School Board staff in dealing with the regulatory issues with the Federal Communications Commission and various on-going matters with the spectrum lease with Sprint.  The original contract was for $8,000 however, because of the unexpected volume of work, this amount was quickly exceeded.  RJGLaw has since been replaced by Fish & Richardson but continued to provide assistance during the transition period.  This increase sought in this amendment is expected to cover all past and current billings for this consultant.

Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the District is $19,000 from the Legal Services budget.
