Microsociety is a revolutionary school reform model that facilitates the application of student academic & social skills as citizens in a school society that is designed and created by students. Students will assume job functions & roles that apply and reinforce the academic concepts learned in school to "real life" situations and opportunities.
Microsociety will be instrumental in helping Village Academy achieve primary goals:
>Improve student reading achievement
>Improve student writing
>Improve student math
>Improve student social competence
>Improve student attachment to school
>Improve student school behavior
>Improve parent & community involvement
Two Microsociety nationally certified trainers will visit Village Academy to provide professional development training sessions with school staff.
The goals and outcomes of the grant activities will be evaluated by statistically analyzing the results of FCAT & SRI scores, social competence assessment scores, attendance data, school discipline referrals and parent & community attendance logs. Microsociety will analyze the data as part of a longitudinal evaluation.
