Title: AC5 Amendment #011 to the Agreement between Palm Beach County and the School Board of Palm Beach Cou

Recommendation:

I recommend that the School Board approve Amendment #011 to the Agreement between Palm Beach County and the School Board of Palm Beach County for Funding of After School Recreation Programs and Resolution #1, effective October 1, 2005 through September 30, 2006, and authorize the superintendent or designee to sign all related documents and contracts.

Description:

 

  • Beginning in FY95 and each subsequent school year, the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners has voted to award funding to the School District to expand or enhance recreational components of the Middle School After-School Programs.
  • In FY04, the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners voted to award funding in the amount of $308,642 for 30 middle schools.
  • In FY05, the funding was $330,000 for 33 middle schools.  
  • In FY06, the funding will increase to $340,000 for 34 middle schools.
  • Each middle school will receive approximately $10,000.
  • The School District will serve as the fiscal agent to distribute this funding to the schools.
  • Resolution #01 will grant the Superintendent or his designee signing authority for up to $35,000 for Middle School After-School Program recreational service providers’ contracts that will be paid from the funding described above.

Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the Special Revenue-Other Funds budget is an increase of $340,000. These funds will be distributed to Middle School After-School Programs.  All grant-related expenditures and contracts are authorized for payment up to the amount of revenue.  There is no financial impact to the Operating Budget.
