Title: Recommendation: I recommend that the School Board approve the Agreement between the School Board of Palm Beach County and the KIND Foundation, for a total of $58,000, effective July 20, 2006 through June 30, 2007, and authorize the Superintendent or designee to sign all documents and contracts related to the grant which are required for implementation of grant activities. Description: § The KIND Foundation is currently a partner with the § In this Agreement, KIND is contributing $58,000 to the School District to be used to enhance the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) Grant. The seven 21st CCLC Afterschool Programs are located in seven schools with Beacon Centers. § The 21st CCLC grantor, Florida Department of Education, capped the salary amount awarded for employees working in the grant. To address this shortfall, funding from the KIND Foundation will be used to: o Increase the part-time position to fulltime; o Cover the project director’s salary that is excess of the grantor’s salary cap; and o Enhance the project in any mutually agreed upon manner. § KIND has committed to the funding for the duration of the grant. Financial Impact: The financial impact to the Special Revenue-Other Funds Budget is an increase of $58,000. The funds will be allocated to the Department of After School Programming.
