Title: AC2 Cooperative Agreement with the SDBPC and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office

Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board approve the continuation of the cooperative agreement with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office for the delivery of alternative educational services at the Palm Beach County Jail from October 1, 2005 through September 30, 2007.

Description: This cooperative agreement allows the continuation of educational services by School District personnel at the Palm Beach County Jail under the Direction of the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.  The program will serve up to 55 delinquent disciplinary male and female youths who are awaiting trial.  The goal of the program is for students to develop the social skills, academic knowledge, and vocational skills necessary to ensure a successful transition to their home school. The length of time a student remains in the facility is determined by the courts.
 

Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the General Fund Budget is approximately $554,814.  The source of funds is FTE Revenue and Supplemental Academic Instruction (SAI) Categorical funding.
