Title: AC5 CONSIDER APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT WITH THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS FOR A HEAD START CHILD C

Recommendation:

I recommend that the School Board approve the contract with the Palm Beach County Board County Commissioners for a Head Start Child Care Provider Partnership at Royal Palm School in the amount of $130,624.00 effective October 1, 2005 to September 30, 2006, and authorize the Superintendent or designee to sign all documents and contracts related to the grant which are required for implementation of the grant activities.

 

Description:

The annual contract for Headstart begins October 1, 2005

The Head Start Contract is a renewal of an annual contract that has been in existence for a number of years but it was not available for the September Board Meeting.

 

The CHILD CARE PROVIDER’S responsibility under this contract is to provide professional/consultation services in the area of Head Start/Pre-Kindergarten education.

 

This contract will provide funding services for children from low-income families.  The Head Start Child Care  Provider contract provides funding for personnel, field trips, materials, supplies, audio visual materials, software, equipment, travel for home visits and Head Start Child Care Provider meetings, curriculum, staff development, parent involvement, transportation and food for eligible students.  In addition, it provides funding for general physical examinations, vision, hearing, dental and mental health care for children in need of services.

 

 

4           The County will monitor, evaluate and provide guidance to the HEAD START CHILD CARE PROVIDER PROGRAM as it performs its obligations under this contract.

 

4           A preliminary monitoring will be done within three (3) months of program start-up.  Thereafter, a quarterly monitoring will be conducted, utilizing the Head Start PRISM, or current monitoring tools.  If severe deficiencies are identified, a repeat monitoring will be done within six (6) months.

 

 

4           85% of the Head Start children in attendance daily.

Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the Special Revenue Funds-Other funds Budget is an increase of $130,624.00.  The funds will be appropriated to Royal Palm School Budget.
