Title: PM3 Educational Specification for Pahokee PreK-12 & Ancillary Center

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve the Educational Specification for Pahokee PreK-12 and Ancillary Center, and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to execute all related contract documents.

Description:

  1. The Educational Specification for Pahokee PreK-12 and Ancillary Center includes Pahokee Elementary, New Middle School 03-MM and Pahokee Jr/Sr High. 

  1. The School District staff worked with staff from Children Services Council, Palm Beach County - Department of Community Services, Department of Health and Healthcare District to create the Pahokee Ancillary Center.

  1. Working with the community and other governmental agencies in a partnership, the proposed Pahokee PreK-12 and Ancillary will provide support services for students PreK-12 to enhance school readiness.

  1. The construction of the Pahokee PreK-12 and Ancillary Center is scheduled to commence 2006 and be completed by 2008.

  1. The Educational Specification for Pahokee PreK-12 and Ancillary Center is consistent with the CSR Facility Lists and CSR Generic Educational Specifications.

  1. The existing facilities would be analyzed by the project architect to determine appropriate usage of the buildings, necessary renovations and remodeling to meet SREF size standards, ADA requirements and other code issues.

  1. The School District is negotiating with the various agencies regarding the capital funding for the additional space with the other governmental agencies covering all operating costs.  The estimated total cost for the additional spaces including space for the Beacon Center, ancillary offices and the community clinic is $4.7 million.

  1. The Educational Specification was reviewed and approved by the Area Superintendent.

Financial Impact:

Financial impact will be determined when construction contract is negotiated.
