Title: PM4 Project Modifications for Berkshire Elementary

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve Project Modifications in the amount of $316,150.00 for Berkshire Elementary School, Modernization Project, and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to execute all related contract documents.

Description:

Berkshire Elementary School – Modernization Project #0601-8298

 

This project modification contains the following item:

 

  • Additional Services in the amount of $316,150.00
  • Description: To include the design services for the Media Center and the Kindergarten Wing.
  • Cause: School District Requested -The original Architectural contract did not include this work.
  • Justification: The existing Media Center and the Kindergarten Wing were later deemed not congruent with the proposed new facility and demolished in accordance with the Charter District Waiver allowing the District to replace buildings for certain reasons as opposed to only considering the Castaldi formula.  The relative locations of the buildings did not allow for optimum student traffic flow, safety and supervision.  The redesign allows for maximum utilization of this undersized (10 acre) campus.  The cost of construction is already included in the GMP, therefore there will be no request to revise  the GMP for this issue.

Financial Impact:

The financial impact to the Project's Budget is $316,150.00.

 

The source of funds is the project budget as approved by the Board at the time of the Construction Contract Award.
