Title: T-1 Consider Transfer of Surplus Buses to Charter School

Recommendation:

I recommend that the School Board authorize the Superintendent to transfer two 77-passenger school buses to G-STAR School of the Arts for Motion Pictures and Television Charter School.

Description:

• Florida Statute 274.06 allows disposal of surplus property in a manner consistent with the best interest of the District.
• Pursuant to Florida's Charter Schools law, all surplus property shall be provided for use by a charter school on the same basis as is made available to other public schools in the District.
• The G-STAR School of the Arts for Motion Pictures and Television Charter School is transporting Palm Beach County District students to and from school.
• Prior to the execution of this donation, G-STAR School of the Arts for Motion Pictures and Television Charter School will be required to sign a vehicle donation agreement.  Appropriate liens will be filed with the State of Florida.
• Property records of the transfetted vehicles will be retired to the inactive file.
• Written request for the surplus buses is attached.

Financial Impact:
Donation of two surplus buses that would sell for approximately $7,000. each.
