Title: PM2 Project Modifications for Rolling Green Elementary

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve Project Modifications for the addition of twenty-two non-compensable calendar days and ratify Project Modifications in the amount of $246,000.00 for Rolling Green Elementary School, Modernization Project, and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to execute all related contract documents.

Description:

 

Rolling Green Elementary School – Modernization Project #0781-7508

  

This project modification contains the following items:

 

Item #1

  • COPR #1 for the addition of twenty-two (22) non-compensable calendar days.
  • Description:  Extend the project schedule by an additional twenty-two (22) days.   Revise the substantial completion date from June 8, 2007 to June 30, 2007.
  • Cause:  Unforeseen Condition.
  • Justification:  The low bidder for the concrete work would not participate in the District's Master Controlled Insurance Program (MCIP), therefor the construction manager had to select a new subcontractor.  The time to rebid the concrete work, issue a contract to the low bidder, and issue the insurance certificate to the contractor extended the critical path of the project by twenty-two (22) days.

Item #2

  • CCD #1 in the amount of $246,000.00
  • Description:  The initial concrete subcontractor, Woodland Construction, decided not to enter into a contract for this project because they did not want to participate in the MCIP with the School District.  The concrete work was rebid and Drawdy Brothers Construction II was the low bidder. 
  • Cause:  Unforeseen Condition.
  • Justification:  The cost for concrete work that was included in the GMP was based on Woodland Construction's bid proposal.  Drawdy Brothers Construction's bid proposal for the same scope of work was $246,000 higher.

Financial Impact:

The financial impact to the Project's Budget is $246,000.00.

 

The source of funds is Restricted Reserve.
