Title: School Psychology Week

Recommendation:
I recommend the School Board approve the Proclamation declaring November 7-11, 2005 as School Psychology Week.

Description: All children and youth can learn with the proper supports, and have the inalienable right to an education that meets their needs.  School psychologists deliver mental health services and academic supports that are critical to achieving in the goals of No Child Left Behind and the Individuals With Disabilities Improvement Education Act.  School psychologists are specially trained to facilitate collaboration and help parents and educators identify and reduce risk factors; create effective, caring schools; access needed community resources; and implement research-driven prevention and intervention strategies.
