Title: CP1-A/E Agmnt for C.O. Taylor/Kirklane ES

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve the award of an Architectural Consultant Agreement with BRPH Architects-Engineers, Inc. in the amount of $1,692,250 and authorize the Superintendent and Board Chairman to sign all required documents for C.O. Taylor/Kirklane ES, Project No. 1531-8350.

Description:

Architectural design services required for development of completed design documents for the construction of an approximately 176,803 GSF, 1,439 student station (1,200 student Program Capacity) replacement elementary school in accordance educational specifications approved by the Board on July 19, 2006. The existing school will remain operational during construction of the replacement school.

Approved Tentative Budget for Planning and Design:       $2,028,864*

Approved Tentative Budget for Construction: $31,146,171*

Budgeted Construction Cost per GSF: $176

*Tentative budget for FY07 was approved by the Board on July 26, 2006.

Fees for Basic Services:$1,415,000

Off-site Civil Design: $65,000 (Not to Exceed)

Funds Available For:
Additional Services: $141,500

Reimbursable Expenses: $70,750
Total Contract Award: $1,692,250

Nine (9) firms responded to the RFP. Four (4) firms were shortlisted. The final ranking of the Selection Committee is as follows: 

(1) BRPH Architects and Engineers

(2) Schenkel Shultz

(3) PGAL

(4) Acai & Associates (Hispanic)

Financial Impact:
The financial impact is $1,692,250. The source of funds is the corresponding Capital Projects Budget. The District will provide the Professional Responsibility Insurance at a cost of $39,086.
