Title: CP1-A/E Agmnt for Banyan Creek ES

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve the award of an Architectural Consultant Agreement with Howard and Associates, Architects, P.A. in the amount of $412,390 and authorize the Superintendent and Board Chairman to sign all required documents for Banyan Creek Elementary School Addition, Project No.1891-8307.

Description:

Architectural design services required for the development of permitted design documents necessary to construct a 41,699 gross square foot, 500 student station classroom addition increasing the total student stations to 1087 in accordance with educational specifications approved by the Board on July 19, 2006.

Approved Budget for Planning and Design:                    $385,675

Approved Budget for Construction:                           $8,650,398

Fee for Basic Services: $358,600.

Funds Available For:
Additional Services: $35,860.

Reimbursable Expenses: $17,930.
Total Contract Award: $412,390.

Seven (7) firms responded to the RFP. Four (4) firms were shortlisted. The final ranking of the Selection Committee is as follows: 

(1) Howard and Associates, Architects, P.A. (African-American)

(2) Song & Associates, Inc.

(3) Saltz & Michelson

(4) Synalovski Gutierrez Romanik, Inc. (Hispanic)

Minority Participation: 20%

Financial Impact:

The financial impact is $431,190. The source of funds is the corresponding Capital Projects Budget. The District will provide the Professional Responsibility Insurance at a cost of $18,800.
