Title: CP1-A/E Agreement for Forest Park ES

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve the award of an Architectural Consultant Agreement with PGAL in the amount of $1,119,000 and authorize the Superintendent and Board Chairman to sign all required documents for Forest Park Elementary School Modernization, Project No.0831-7502.

Description:

Architectural design services required for the development of permitted design documents necessary to construct 79,120 GSF of new classrooms and core facilities and remodel three existing classroom buildings of 34,280 GSF. Total existing student stations will increase from 331 to 798 and the core facilities will be increased to accommodate 960 students. The design process shall also incorporate planning and design necessary to accommodate a Wellness Center and the future addition of a 188 student stations addition which will at that point bring the total student stations to 986 in accordance with educational specifications approved by the Board on May 17, 2006.

Approved Budget for Planning and Design:                   $1,147,750

Approved Budget for Construction:                           $19,069,642

Fees for Basic Services: $960,000.

Funds Available For:
Extraordinary Civil Design Requirements: $15,000 (Not to Exceed)

Additional Services: $96,000.

Reimbursable Expenses: $48,000.
Total Contract Award: $1,119,000.

Nine (9) firms responded to the RFP. Three (3) firms were shortlisted. The final ranking of the Selection Committee is as follows: 

(1) PGAL

(2) Song & Associates, Inc.

(3) Acai Associates, Inc. (Hispanic)

Minority Participation: 20%

Financial Impact:

The financial impact is $1,158,640. The source of funds is the corresponding Capital Projects Budget. The District will provide the Professional Responsibility Insurance at a cost of $39,640.
