Title: CLS1-Suncoast Community High School Band Participates in New Year's Day Parade in London, England Recommendation:
I Recommend that the School Board approve an educational field trip for the Suncoast High School Band to travel to London, England, December 27, 2006 through January 2, 2007.
Description: The Suncoast Community High School Band has been invited to participate in the twenty-first Anniversary London Parade Festival 2006/2007 to be held in London, England. The New Year's Day Parade is an internationally recognized activity watched by millions across the world. There are approximately one hundred twenty students and 30 adult chaperones to accompany the band on this international trip. The Youth Music of the World provides our group travel to London with comprehensive service prior to, and during, and subsequent to travel.
The Suncoast party will depart Tuesday, December 26, 2006 from the US and arrive in London Wednesday, December 27, 2006. The Suncoast group will return to the US on Tuesday, January 2, 2007. The Suncoast party will travel round trip economy class on a scheduled airline from the USA gateway to London airport. The trip will include six nights accommodations in a centrally located hotel in London. Students will be accommodated in triple bedded rooms. Adults will be accommodated in twin rooms.
The trip will consist of a parade and educational tours of London's West End and City with professional tour guides. A four hour tour with photo stops on a private chartered coach will be provided to ensure safety. Arrangements for a strictly student orientated and controlled New Year's Eve Celebration at the London hotel will be provided.
The benefits of the trip will be as follows: - students will have an opportunity to experience international travel - students will interact with others globally - Suncoast will serve as Ambassadors representing Palm Beach County
Financial Impact:
The Youth Music of the World specially written comprehensive Travel Insurance Policy is in effect. The cost of the six day trip will be $2,500.00 per person. Fund raisers will be conducted to defray the cost of the trip through Internal Accounts. All costs and accommodations will be covered by the participants. Additionally, donations will be accepted from organizations affiliated with the City of Riviera Beach, the City of West Palm Beach, and other partners affiliated with Suncoast Community High School.
