Title: CLS3-Wellington Community High School Choir (Impressions) Trip to Glasgow, Scotland Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board approve this request for the Wellington Community High School Choir, Impressions, to travel to Glasgow, Scotland. The primary purpose of this trip is an educational one which will provide the students an opportunity to perform a series of concerts in Glasgow, Scotland. The choir members will gain knowledge of another country, its architecture, historical landmarks, language, art museums, folkways and mores and its contribution to music.
Description: Forty choir members will be chaperoned by four teachers and eight parents. The group will travel by air, departing from Palm Beach International Airport on Friday, March 30, 2007 and returning to Palm Beach International Airport on Monday, April 9, 2007. The cost of the trip is $2,300 per person, which includes air, hotel, charter coach, meals, tours and entrance to all attractions. Student cost for the trip will be paid in part by fundraising activities specifically planned to finance this trip. No student will be denied attendance due to inability to pay. Chaperones will pay the full fare. Trip insurance is included in the total cost per person. The trip insurance includes trip cancellation coverage and medical coverage.
Financial Impact:
The financial impact of $119,600 will be covered by Wellington Community High School Internal Accounts.
